DON'T PLAY WHAT'S THERE.
PLAY WHAT'S NOT THERE.
I am a freelance jazz singer, tap dancer, composer, and director. I believe that voice and body are intertwined; voice informs body informs voice.
Improvisation is essential to who I am and what I do. At the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, I created the major: "Navigating Chaos and Structure: In Pursuit of Freedom and Art." The belief that boundaries are manmade--and therefore not inevitable--informs everything that I do. I went on to receive my Masters from the Contemporary Improvisation Department at New England Conservatory, where I sang and tapped my way through genres, structures, and ideas.
I am the Founder and Executive Director of Moving Stories (movingstoriesfoundation.com), an organization that partners with local organizations to create live, full-length performances integrating storytelling, music, and dance. We create a platform on which community members can share their stories. Music and dance are used to enhance the content of stories told. Our mission is to integrate high arts culture and everyday life: fighting elitism in the arts.
I would love to connect.
