voice & tap

Do not fear mistakes. There are none.
- Miles Davis

I grew up on the Great American Songbook, jazz standards, musical theatre, art song, and classical repertoire. Started tapping and never stopped. I believe that the voice and body are intertwined; voice informs body informs voice. I'd like to share my passion for voice and motion, and to work with singers and dancers across all genres. Genuine musicality, musicianship and community are vital to how I understand both voice and tap, and I encourage students to see the integral relationship between movement and the voice.

The classroom is a space to celebrate the belief that anyone can sing, and that anyone can dance. Whether you are interested in drumming with your feet, jazz improvisation, or classical voice, I'd love to play with you and help you to become a more confident, sensitive and creative musician.

If you want to improvise, work on vocal technique, sing jazz or make music out of tap dance, I'd love to meet you!

While my background is primarily in the Great American Songbook and traditional theatre tunes, I have recently expanded my repertoire to include traditional yiddish songs, as well...

maybe I can sing it and you'll understand.

I got to dance in front of the Dance Complex in the rain! Music courtesy of the record store next door...

I can't stand to sing the same song the same way two nights in succession. If you can, then it ain't music, it's close order drill, or exercise, or yodeling or something, not music.
